We received a large-scale challenge from the Fundação de Serralves: to create a tactile map of the Serralves heritage site.
We began the project by conducting a point cloud survey of the entire space using drone-supported 3D laser scans.
We then moved on to a truly meticulous task, simplifying the model’s shapes to make it more tactile and visually perceptible based on a set of standards we defined.
We then ran a series of tests on parts of the model, which allowed us to validate the quality of the results we were achieving.
After minor corrections, we moved on to 3D printing the model and caption elements. The print was coated with a layer of primer for protection and then attached to the accessible structure we developed.
Today, when visiting Serralves, you will find this tactile map in the entrance lobby in front of the ticket office. With the help of the map, you can identify the various areas and the layout of the gardens. Enjoy your visit!
